Alexandru Sarga is one of the best-known fiddlers from the streets of Baia Mare. During the weddings season, he plays in front of the Marriage House in Baia Mare, during the graduation events you can meet him in front of the Culture House, while in the weekend you can hear him play in the Municipal Park.
He has good memories about the modest family he grew up in. His parents did not have much school education, but they tried to raise and educate their children as best they could. They taught them to be fair, respectful and to earn a living by working.
Alexander has no musical studies, but he can reproduce almost any song he hears. He has been playing the violin and the guitar since he was 7 years old. He learned this from his father. Over the years, the traveled the world and played in Italy, Spain, Germany. Now he is 64 years old and plays his violin in Baia Mare.
Alexandru is a widow. He has children and grandchildren whom he helps how he can, trying not to be burden for them. He’s earning his living by playing for the passers-by in Baia Mare. He has faith in God, and this helps him overcome all the hardships of life.
